Sitting by the beach has always been a great place for me to unwind and reconnect with God. There’s something about the sun, waves, and ocean breeze that draws me into the Lord.

It’s also a great opportunity to read some books!

The first one I want to share with you is The Gospel According to Satan by Jared C. Wilson. This book is a 10 out of 10. Throughout the book, Jared classifies different lies we believe in our culture. Some of these hit home more than others, but it’s convicting none the less. Jared takes lies Satan tries to convince us are truth and he counters each lie with truth found in the Word of God.

If you’re looking for a book that incorporates Scripture, this is a book for you! The verses are explained in the correct context and it’s a great read! This one will help you identify, uproot, and replace lies we far too often believe.

The other book I got to read on the honeymoon was Holy Guacamole by Carrie Stephens. This one is a little harder for me to recommend just because it provided some practical application, but it missed the mark on some interpretations of the Bible. At some points in the book, Carrie suggests some things that don’t line up with where I stand theologically.

I will say, reading this book shed some light onto some areas of my heart where I need to accept what God says about me instead of what the world will say about me. Carrie is also VERY entertaining. As an author, she has a very strong voice that makes reading her writing so enjoyable.
